Objectives

GI WACAF, in partnership with HASSMAR and ANAM, organised a sub-regional workshop in Dakar on harmonisation and cooperation in the use of dispersants at sea. Delegations from Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Gambia, Mauritania and Senegal took part in the proceedings.

The aim of the project is to develop a common framework for the use of dispersants, strengthen cooperation mechanisms and organise mutual assistance in the event of an incident, in accordance with the OPRC 90 and Abidjan Conventions.

The technical exchanges and working sessions held during this four-day workshop enabled a structured dialogue with national authorities and laid the foundations for a future sub-regional agreement.
