GI WACAF collaborates with GoGIN to support operational training on oil pollution response – Cotonou, Benin, 25 June-3 July 2019

June 17th 2019

The GI WACAF organizes the 3-day training course that will precede an operational training in Benin in the field of pollution response organized by the GoGIN project (Interregional Network for the Gulf of Guinea). This training is the result of the first collaboration between the GI WACAF and GoGIN Projects. Its purpose is to prepare a simulation exercise aimed at managing an incident of illegal oil release at sea and the follow-up that may be given to it.

The technical training will take place from 25 to 27 June 2019 in Cotonou, Benin. It will be delivered by two consultants, Anne Réglain and Romain Chancerel, and will cover various aspects useful to the participants in the following week’s anti-pollution operation (emergency planning, recognition and characterization of oil spills at sea and the international regime of liability and compensation in the event of an oil spill).
